Halal Love & Nikah: A Muslim Sister’s Diary of Heartbreak, Faith, and Healing

A Sister’s Diary — On Halal Love, Nikah & True Faith

Woman is love. Love is beauty. And what could be more beautiful than a woman who has found true love in Islam?

Before — A Journey Through the Heart

September 1 — Dear Diary The sun was warm, the sky a clear canvas of blue. In the bustling market, the scent of spices lingered like a melody. And then I thought of Zaid. His smile was radiant, almost secret. Every time I saw him, it felt like breathing fresh air after a storm. He was handsome, thoughtful, devoted to prayer. I dreamed of a lifetime with him.

October 1 — Dear Diary We shared lunch at a small café. His laughter echoed in my chest. Later, as we strolled, our hands brushed. For a heartbeat, time stopped. I knew I should not hold on — not without Allah’s name between us — but I chose the sweetness of the moment over faith.

October 15 — Dear Diary I asked him about marriage. He said, “That day will come.” But there was no promise, no contract, no nikah. Even when he texted “I love you,” the words felt empty. My love was fragile, like glass waiting to shatter.

November 1 — Dear Diary Today I saw Zaid… holding another girl’s hand. The way he looked at her was the way he once looked at me. My heart cracked open. Sleep abandoned me. If this isn’t love, then what is true love?

After — From Heartbreak to Healing

January 1 — Dear Diary Now I know. True love is Allah. The Most Merciful. The Most Loving. In my darkest nights, He saw my tears. When I raised my hands in du‘a, peace returned like coming home. I had been searching for love in people. At last, I found the Source of love itself.

February 2 — Dear Diary Life felt calm again. Then I met Saeed — kind, respectful, his gaze warm. When he looked at me, I lowered my eyes and prayed for Allah’s guidance. When he sent me messages, I replied: “If you truly care, prove it with action. Speak to my father. Give a sincere commitment.” This time, I knew where boundaries must be drawn.

April 1 — Dear Diary Today was blessed — my wedding day. The nikah was simple, pure, filled with light. Looking back, I see it clearly: When I gave my heart away without Allah, it was fleeting. When I gave my heart to Allah, I found love that is whole, lasting, and true.

A woman’s heart is her crown.
If she wears it for this world, her love will remain in this world.
But if she wears it for Allah, her love will shine in this life and the next.

So, my dear sister, tell me: How will you wear your crown?
